Darien Downsize
We recently collaborated with clients who made the move to a beautifully downsized home in Darien, CT. The goal was to create a space that felt both functional and reflective of their personal style while maximizing the home’s potential. To achieve this, we designed custom built-ins that not only provided elegant storage solutions but also served as a showcase for their favorite books, decor, and meaningful treasures. An inviting bar was added, becoming a centerpiece for entertaining and a feature that elevated the overall design of the custom kitchen.
One of the most rewarding aspects of the project was repurposing cherished pieces from their previous home. From reupholstering beloved furniture to re-imagining artwork placement, we wove these elements seamlessly into the new space. By blending their familiar favorites with carefully selected fresh design elements, we struck a perfect balance between comfort and sophistication. The result is a warm, modern home that feels uniquely theirs, tailored to their new lifestyle.
Snowbird Retreat
By completely gutting the first floor of this condo, we transformed the space to better suit our client's lifestyle. Our design approach seamlessly combines contemporary elegance with the timeless charm of New Canaan, creating an ideal retreat for our snowbird client. We curated stylish, welcoming spaces through the thoughtful selection of materials, textures, and finishes, while incorporating the client’s cherished antiques and art collected over the years. A standout feature is the antique hardware store counter, repurposed as the desktop in the custom-built office, adding a unique personal touch. Although blending old and new styles can be challenging, when done with care, the result is a sophisticated and refined living space.
Park House NYC
Through its understated, modernist-inspired design, this project stands as a true testament to the power of joyful collaboration. The clients, a couple I've had the pleasure of working with on multiple projects over the years, found themselves in the empty nest phase after sending their youngest off to college. Seeking a pied-à-terre in the heart of Chelsea, they envisioned a peaceful retreat where family could come together to visit and unwind. The challenge lay in crafting a functional space with a sophisticated style that exuded understated luxury and comfort. The result was a space that radiated joy, happiness, and tranquility—perfectly aligned with the needs and personalities of the clients.
Nod Hill Antique
In transforming this New England Antique, the client's vision was to infuse a quirky bohemian ambiance into the space, creating a versatile setting for both lively entertaining and cozy book moments. Our initial focus was on the living room where we feature a rich charcoal velvet on the chairs, contrasting with the inviting texture of an ivory performance bouclé on the sofa. Adding a touch of whimsy and textural interest, the chandelier became a key element in elevating the overall aesthetic. Transitioning to the dining room, our goal was to extend the palette and maintain the playful mood established in the living room. Using the client's antique table as a foundation, we introduced a playful twist with mid-century modern dining chairs. The addition of dramatic wallpaper made the walls come alive, complemented by Farrow & Ball trim for a subtle pop of color. To enhance the ambiance, we selected a beaded chandelier that harmoniously ties all of the elements together.
School Road
In this traditional colonial home, our client's vision was to infuse a modern aesthetic while preserving the timeless charm of a classic Connecticut colonial. The formal living room underwent a substantial transformation, evolving into a vibrant lounge featuring a bar, pool table, and piano—a perfect blend for lively gatherings with friends and family. To maintain a cohesive design narrative, we continued the theme in the dining room, introducing a playful touch with a dramatic wallpaper that harmonizes with the blue and green hues seamlessly woven into other rooms on the first level. In the primary bedroom, we opted for a decorative grasscloth accent wall to introduce color and depth, creating a striking contrast against the muted wood tones of the furniture while still offering a calm retreat. Functionality and comfort were our guiding principles, emphasizing the layering of objects without compromising a sense of ease, steering clear of anything overly formal or precious.
